For whatever reason, when I close the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, it crashes and gives me this error code.

@Revi-Vice -- have you tried uninstalling the app, restarting Windows, and downloading & installing the newest version of the app?

If you open the program with the option, run as administrator?

I currently have this  version 1.8.0.0 , under windows 11, and I don't have this problem.

Downloaded it though it did nothing as it told me a newer version was already installed. I assume I'd have to uninstall the current version before downgrading.

 

However, it seemed that the automated scans work now and the thing itself works fine (exiting oddly enough causes the error) so... I think it fixed itself?

So , if it works then leave it
Yes, you should have uninstalled the old version first..
I had a time when we could do whatever we wanted
But now, no, there is newer, so no install possible for many programs/drivers
