@Komodo1., Welcome to HP Support Community 😀,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Turn Off Password Sign-In (Using netplwiz)

This step allows you to bypass the login screen completely.

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  1. Type netplwiz and press Enter.
  2. In the User Accounts window, uncheck the box that says, "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer".
  3. Click Apply.
  4. When prompted, enter your current password and confirm it.
  5. Click OK, and restart your PC.

Enable Automatic Sign-In (If netplwiz Doesn't Work)

If the above doesn't work or you prefer another method, follow these steps to set your computer to sign in automatically.

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  1. Type control userpasswords2 and press Enter.
  2. Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer".
  3. Enter your username and password (for a Microsoft or local account) when prompted.
  4. Click OK and restart your PC.

Disable PIN or Password Requirement for Windows (If using a Microsoft Account)

If you’re using a Microsoft account, the system may ask for a password or PIN to sign in. To remove this:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  1. Under Manage how you sign in to your device, select Password or PIN, and choose Remove. If it's a Microsoft account, it may ask you to sign in again to confirm the change.
If you don't want a password or PIN to be used at all, make sure there’s no password set at all for your Microsoft account (you may need to adjust this on Microsoft's website).

Disable Lock Screen (Optional)

If you don’t want the lock screen to appear at all, follow these steps to disable it:

  1. Open Local Group Policy Editor:
    • Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.
  3. Double-click on Do not display the lock screen.
  4. Set it to Enabled and click Apply.

Remove Password Requirement on Wake-up (Optional)

If you'd like to disable the password requirement when your computer wakes up from sleep:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  2. Under Require sign-in, select Never.

Alternatively, you can disable it via the Control Panel:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change when the computer sleeps.
  2. Select Change advanced power settings.
  3. Scroll down to Password protection on wakeup and set it to Don’t require a password.

Additional Considerations

If you still have issues with signing in automatically or with a password prompt, make sure your computer’s Windows version is up to date, as sometimes issues can be caused by outdated system files or bugs.

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
  • Check your Microsoft Account Settings: If you're using a Microsoft account, go to the Microsoft account website to check for any security settings that might require additional authentication (like two-factor authentication).

7. Local Account Only (No Microsoft Account)

If you’re using a Microsoft account and you’d prefer to switch to a local account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts.
  2. Click Your Info, then select Sign in with a local account instead.
  3. Follow the instructions to set up a local account without a password.

Once you've done this, the sign-in requirements for a Microsoft account will be removed, and you can set your system to automatically log in.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
