Hi @Dolrbil60,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Enabling hardware virtualization on your HP laptop (model 15-dy2152wm) involves accessing the BIOS/UEFI settings and making changes there. Hardware virtualization support is necessary for running virtual machines efficiently. Here’s how you can enable it:
Steps to Enable Hardware Virtualization
Enter BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart your laptop.
- During the initial startup (before the Windows logo appears), press the Esc key repeatedly. This usually brings up the Startup Menu.
- From the Startup Menu, press the key associated with entering BIOS/UEFI settings (often F10 for HP laptops).
Navigate to Virtualization Settings:
- Once in the BIOS/UEFI menu, use the arrow keys to navigate. Look for a tab or menu named Advanced, System Configuration, System Settings, or something similar. The exact name can vary depending on the BIOS version.
- Within this tab, find an option related to Virtualization Technology, Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x), or AMD-V (depending on your processor).
Enable Virtualization:
- Select the virtualization option and change the setting to Enabled.
- You might find the setting under Advanced > CPU Configuration > Intel Virtualization Technology or a similar path.
Save and Exit:
- After enabling virtualization, press the key that corresponds to saving changes and exiting (usually F10).
- Confirm that you want to save the changes and exit. The laptop will then reboot
Verify Virtualization:- Once Windows has loaded, you can verify that virtualization is enabled.
- Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Go to the Performance tab, select CPU on the left, and check for "Virtualization" in the details. It should indicate that it is enabled.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
