Hi:

I doubt you need to update the BIOS to install the i7-4770 processor because it was always a supported processor in the model series and was not added as a supported processor during the model's production.

This is how I update the BIOS:

Run the sp103785 BIOS update exe file.

An information page will open.

Follow the instructions under the Startup Menu / F10 Setup BIOS Flashing section.

Basically, what you do is to get a USB flash drive.

Format it with the FAT32 file system.

At the bottom of the Startup Menu / F10 Setup BIOS Flashing section there is a blue 'View Contents of DOS Flash Folder' link to click on.

Copy all of the files in that folder to your USB flash drive.  Just the files, not the folder.

After the files have been successfully copied to the flash drive, restart the PC.

Immediately tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 Setup option.

Select the File tab Flash System ROM command.

Select USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see' the files on the flash drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.

Then you should be prompted to restart the PC.

That's it.

Hi:

Below are the info and exe links to the last BIOS update HP released for your PC:

I see that you cannot re-flash the BIOS to the older version on the support page according to the release notes.
