I need to have at least one USB port powered off while the computer in in sleep mode. They currently remain powered on after entering sleep mode. I made sure the Device Manager "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting is correctly set and power remains on while sleeping. I can't see anything obvious in BIOS settings. How do I do this?

Your machine is a desktop, its specs

Normally this option is for laptops/notebooks to save batteries. I don't know what is the reason behind but please try

Just an observation, but HP's web site has posted a warning about a possiable flaw in the USB drivers after installing the latest win0 update. This could be where you need to focus your attention.
