Hi, I have been using HP Support Assistant and it is showing a BIOS-System firmware update, but I am confused because the latest and current seem to be the same F.37? It is not showing in the updates part on the dashboard, but does when I click on Run Hardware diagnostic, & check BIOS.

When I click on Windows System Information it say bios version/date AMI F.37 09/04/2025

Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.

Based on the information you’ve provided, we’d like to clarify the situation:

🔍 BIOS Version Confusion – Why F.37 May Still Appear as an Update

While your system already shows BIOS version F.37 (dated 09/04/2025) in Windows System Information, HP Support Assistant may still recommend what appears to be the same version. This can happen due to the following reasons:

Possible Reasons You're Seeing a Repeat BIOS Update:

  1. Minor Patch or Microcode Update:
    • Sometimes HP releases revised builds of the same BIOS version (e.g., F.37 Rev.A, Rev.B, etc.) to include security patches, stability fixes, or updated firmware modules.
    • These changes may not be reflected in the version number itself (still showing F.37), but they are still important and beneficial.

  2. Component-Level Update:
    • The BIOS update may include changes that apply to embedded controllers (EC), ME firmware, or TPM configurations that don't alter the main BIOS version number but still require installation.

  3. Detection Mismatch:
    • HP Support Assistant may detect that a particular component within the BIOS package is not yet aligned with the latest release, prompting the update notification even if the primary BIOS version appears unchanged.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Vikram, I clicked on install/update & it didn't actually seem to do anything & 2 seconds later it is showing everything working fine & no update needed as I have the current version. I guess it a glitch which resolved itself, but I have accepted your reply as the solution, & thank you for your time!
