Hi @swamyks72
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error you're encountering during the installation of HP Support Solutions Framework (error code: -3) can be caused by several factors, such as corrupt installation files, issues with system permissions, or conflicting software. Here are several steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
1. Run the Installer as Administrator
Sometimes, installation issues occur due to insufficient permissions. Try running the installer as an administrator.
- Right-click the HP Support Solutions Framework installer and select Run as Administrator.
- Follow the installation process and check if the error still occurs.
2. Ensure Windows Update is Up to Date
An outdated version of Windows might cause issues during software installations. Make sure your system is fully updated.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security → Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Restart your computer and try the installation again.
3. Uninstall Any Previous Versions of HP Support Software
If an older version of HP Support Solutions Framework or related software is already installed, it might conflict with the new installation. Uninstall any previous versions:
- Press Windows + X and select Apps and Features.
- Look for HP Support Solutions Framework or HP Support Assistant and click Uninstall.
- Restart your computer and try installing the software again.
4. Clear Temporary Files and Cache
Sometimes, corrupted or leftover installation files can cause issues. Try clearing your temporary files and cache:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type temp and press Enter.
- Select all files in the folder (press Ctrl + A), then press Delete.
- Next, type %temp% in the Run dialog and press Enter.
- Select all files again and press Delete.
- Restart your computer and try the installation again.
5. Download the Latest Version of HP Support Solutions Framework
The version of the installer you're using may be outdated or corrupted. Download the latest version directly from the official HP support page:
- Visit the HP Support Page and search for HP Support Solutions Framework or HP Support Assistant.
- Download the latest version and try installing it again.
6. Use the HP Support Assistant Installer
The HP Support Assistant application is a more comprehensive tool that includes the Support Solutions Framework. If you're unable to install the Framework alone, try installing HP Support Assistant:
- Visit the HP Support Assistant page
- Download and install HP Support Assistant (it includes the necessary components).
- Once installed, it should automatically install the Support Solutions Framework as part of the package.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I'm having the same issue. I have a brand new HP laptop 15-fd1xxx, product # AN0P9UA, with windows 11. I tried downloading the HP Support Assistant for PC and got the error message that I needed to install the legacy version of that software and that it is located on the same web page as the main program. Well, first, why do I need a legacy software for a brand new computer, and second, the legacy version IS NOT located on the web page where I was directed. It seems every bit of software I try to install from HP is failing. Please help you are able. Thanks!!
