In general, Word dislikes copy and paste -- best to use Insert instead.
"Why" you cannot do this the way you want depends on how your Word document accepts input.
Moreover, content from the web might not be in a format (file type) that Word understands.
Excel is (of course) different from Word and does have its own rules and preferences on how to add content.
Snip the picture(s) you want from the web pages you are viewing
Save the content to your computer as an Image (.jpg) file
Open your Word document
Navigate to the location in the document where you want to place the image
Use "Insert" to find and drop the picture into to the document
Snip – available since Vista! Check out the “delay” feature in Windows 10

If you can’t copy and paste in Microsoft Word, clear the Windows clipboard cache, launch Word in Safe Mode, and check the results. Additionally, disable your add-ins and repair Office. If the issue persists, reinstall Office.
Clear Clipboard - Open CMD by pressing win+r and type cmd /c “echo off|clip” and hit Enter.
RUN WORD IN SAFE MODE - Open CMD by pressing win+r and type winword/safe and hit Enter.
DISABLE ADD-INS - Open Microsoft Word ->Options -> add-in type and hit the Go button. Now uncheck or remove the shown Add-Ins
CHECK COPY-PASTE OPTIONS IN WORD - After you resolve the copy-paste problem, use the steps below to tweak the default paste behavior in Word.
Step 1: Open the Microsoft Word on your PC and click File at the top-left corner.
Step 2: Select Options from the left sidebar.
Step 3: Click Advanced. Scroll to Cut, copy, and paste and make the required changes as per your preference.
