HP TouchSmart31
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My pc (HP TouchSmart 310) wasn’t working correctly, so I reinstalled Windows 10. This PC has a damaged physical on/off button, so the only way to turn it on is by using the ir controller that came in with it, but by reinstalling windows the ir control stopped working. How can I get the driver back? The HP page doesn’t have any software for my pc.

Couple of problems here.  (1)  How are you turning it on  and  (2) Exactly what model 310? to get the drivers

(2) is easy - Put the exact model like "310-1125y" over here https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/desktops

then expand desktops and pick one of the 21 listed there.  There is probably a batter way that uses your serial number but you didn't list it.  Once you select the correct product you will see (I am guessiing)  "Cannot find any drivers..."  That just means you are running a much newer version of windows. You just need to manually select the operating system to the one that originally came with your "touchscreen 310".  I would pick windows 7x 64 even it it came with 8.  I assume you are running 64 bit win10.   I suspect HP is using the Cyberlink remote control app so look for their Multimedia driver.

The (1) is more difficult.  I assume you can somehow turn it on as you would not be asking for the device driver download.

If you can "somehow" turn it on then go into the BIOS setup and configure the system to ALWAYS turn back on after a power loss.  If you ever shut the system down then all you got do do is unplug it for a few minutes then plug it back in.

If you really cannot power up your system, then come back here with the correct model / serial and we can lookup the motherboard on eBay, zoom in on the picture, find the front panel header, fine the two pins that are used to turn it on. It is easier and cheaper to patch in a wire with switch and dangle outside the case to allow turning it on.  Much cheaper than replacing the touch screen turn on button.

(1) I hadn't turned the pc off at the time, was scared it wouldn't turn on; but after taking a leap of faith I turned it off and the control worked turning it on.

(2) My computer is an HP TouchSmart 310-1220la, but when I use the page that you sent me It says that there is no software for my pc, and when trying to select the OS the list is empty.

I am glad everything is working again.

I looked up 310-1220la and the best I could find for drivers was here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/identify?q=310-1220&filter=&origin=drivers&devicety...

and here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/identify?q=310-1220uk&filter=&origin=drivers&device...

Looks like for 310-1220ia you will  need to contact HP at location in your area.

Do not install any bios unless it is designed for your system AND there is a reason to install other than "It is newer"
