I have an external hard drive that plugs in via USB, and it suddenly does not register on any drive

I have a Seagate external hard drive on which I keep most of my pictures and videos.  Suddenly it does not show up on any drive.  In the past when that occasionally happened, I just removed the USB plug and then replaced it, and then it would reappear.  This time it will not reappear.  I have another desktop and when I plug it into that one, it shows up.
