Hi all,

I just got in after being out all day, and saw all this activity on the thread I started. I'm glad it seems to have helped someone else, but what with work and the missus using the computer, and the fact that the problem is merely irritating, I haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

I did uninstall the program and re-installed, I'm fairly sure correctly, but the problem, such as it is, is still with me.

I shall probably uninstall it, who needs the hassle. If there is another way of updating as and when I need the program, that seems to be the way to go.

Thanks for the help, in a day or so I hope to be back and mark the thread accordingly.

Personally, I hardly use the application, I keep it mostly for testing here.
I regret that after a certain number of updates, that the update system has been modified
it is no longer as practical, we lost the simple manual option, we could just open the software and search, without having to schedule periodic updates.
Not always useful, since the updates can be quite spaced out in time, we don't need to search for it every week !!
Moreover after a certain time, it becomes useless, because the updates hardly exist any more, noted for two different models, after a year of use nothing or very little
The good thing, but I don't use it, are the HP troubleshooting tools and support resources, used very little by users, considering how to contact hp!
I recommend it for a user whose driver search is not easy for him
if not for a user with knowledge, the product page, driver download is enough!

Hi Prométhée,

It is indeed starting to look like this particular program is past its best!

As you point out though, some of the other little helper programs have been invaluable on a couple of occasions. I have used the trouble shooters and got a result that seemed viable once or twice.

For me personally, your help and assistance along with other generously minded people on similar forums, is absolutely brilliant. Despite 20 years or more on PCs, I'm still at the level where updating a driver causes me anxiety and as for updating a BIOS, something I know needs to be done, it terrifies me 🙂
So, for me, having uninstalled the prog (HP Update), I seem to be getting no more popups, so the job is done. I'm just looking around to find the appropriate buttons to press to give you the right feedback, and I wish you a good day sir or madam.

did you read that right from the start
one of the solutions being as simple as uninstalling then reinstalling the hp software
