Hi @annswisher,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand. When photos do not appear after using an SD card, the issue is usually related to where the files were saved, how the card is read, or how Windows/macOS is displaying the folder. Please follow the steps below in order. These are safe and simple.

Step 1: Confirm the SD card is detected

Insert the SD card, then check:

On Windows (HP Notebook):

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. Click This PC
  3. Look for a drive named:
    • Removable Disk
    • SDHC
    • EOS / NIKON / DCIM

If you see it, continue to Step 2
If not, skip to Step 5

Step 2: Open the correct photo folder (very common issue)

Cameras always store photos inside this path:

SD Card > DCIM > 100MEDIA (or similar)

➡️ You must open the DCIM folder
Photos will not show at the top level of the SD card.

Step 3: Change File Explorer view (hidden files issue)

Sometimes photos are there but not visible.

  1. In File Explorer, click View
  2. Set Layout: Large icons
  3. Click View > Show
  4. Turn ON:
    • File name extensions
    • Hidden items

Check again.

Step 4: Search the SD card (quick)

  1. Click the SD card drive
  2. In the search bar (top‑right), type: *.jpg

or

*.png

  1. Press Enter

If photos appear, they exist but were not visible in folder view.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
