My previous PC had this feature in its' BIOS, and I was hoping to do the same with this new (to me) desktop computer. I accessed the BIOS using the Ctrl + F10 combo to enable the Advanced tab, but while this step works the Advanced tab present is totally blank. This PC while out of warranty is brand new out of the box as it was purchased during the pandemic in Aug of 2022, but only unboxed 3 days ago. Runs great and currently running Win 11 version 24H2 and all other updates including those from HP have been applied. Can someone confirm if this wake up feature is available on this PC?

Hi @Hankus42,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Accessing the BIOS:
- Restart the Computer: Turn off your computer. Turn it back on and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly until the startup menu opens.
- Enter BIOS: Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.
Advanced BIOS Settings:
- If you are trying to access advanced settings and finding the Advanced tab blank, there may be specific settings or security features that need adjustments.
- Ensure you are using the correct key combination to access advanced settings. The combination can vary by model; commonly used combinations include Ctrl + F10 or Ctrl + A.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Security Settings: Sometimes advanced settings may be restricted for security purposes. Look under the 'Security' tab and verify if there are any options restricting access to advanced settings.
- BIOS Update: There might be a BIOS update available that could resolve the issue. To check for updates:
- Go to HP Support and enter your PC model to find available BIOS updates.
- Clear CMOS: If you continue to face issues, you can reset the BIOS to default settings by clearing the CMOS. Instructions for clearing CMOS can typically be found in your PC's maintenance guide.
I hope this helps.

The Advanced tab is present when I initiate access to the BIOS menu using the key combination of CTRL + F10. But as indicated this tab contains nothing just a blank page. This PC was purchased 4 years ago and never used. The unboxing was only 3 day ago, and of course the warranty has already lapsed, so help directly for HP in not practical unfortunately. Win 11 version 22H2 came preloaded and after many updates ( including a BIOS update ) it currently sits at WIN 11 version 24H2. I have yet to find documentation to prove or disprove the feature to turn on daily at a specific time is present. Current BIOS version is F.31.

Hi @Hankus42,
Thank you for the update! I understand how useful it is to have your PC power on automatically at a specific time, and I’d love to help you get that working.
Here are some steps to determine if your HP desktop supports the Daily Power-On / RTC Wake-Up feature and how to set it up if available:
Check for "Power On" or "Wake on RTC" Option in BIOS
Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
Try Ctrl + F10 again inside BIOS to unlock hidden features.
Look for a tab labeled Power, Advanced, or Power Management.
Search for any of these settings (names may vary by model):
RTC Alarm Power On
Resume by Alarm
Wake System from S5
Scheduled Power On
If available, enable the feature and set the time to 08:00 AM.
Save changes and exit BIOS (usually F10, then Enter to confirm).
If BIOS Tab Is Blank or Feature Missing
Since you've mentioned the Advanced tab is blank:
Try Ctrl + A instead of Ctrl + F10 in the BIOS — some HP models respond to that instead.
Ensure the BIOS version you’re on (F.31) is the latest available from the HP Drivers & Support page.
If still unavailable, your PC model may not support scheduled RTC wake.
Windows Task Scheduler (Alternative Wake)
While this won’t power on from a full shutdown, you can still wake from sleep:
Open Task Scheduler in Windows.
Click Create Basic Task.
Name it something like Wake PC Daily.
Set the trigger to Daily at 08:00 AM.
Choose Start a Program → type cmd.exe as a dummy action.
Before finishing:
Check “Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish”.
Under the Conditions tab, check “Wake the computer to run this task”.
Save it and test by putting your PC to sleep.
I hope this helps.
