HP keeps finding my Intel VROC driver is out of date.  When I download the correct softPaq (SP154160) and try to  install it using the softpaq's default installer, it appears to run but the driver rev never changes.  I then tried "Update Driver" from the device manager->storage controller->Intel VROC sSATA Controller and Intel VROC SATA Controller properties windows. I browsed to the installer's driver folder where the iastor?.inf files exist and hit install.  All seemed to go well but the rev never changed.  I tried running the "SetupVROC_8.6.0.3001.exe" from the extracted installer folders and it reports that the install fails with error 0x00000643 and refers me to verbose log file that, of course, doesn't tell me a lot. In the end there is no way to update the driver from 8.6.0.2002 to 8.6.0.3001 as HP recommends.

NOTE: I did not try to "Disable Device" or "Uninstall Device" because I used an even earlier version (that I was able to update when I initially got the worksation "online" on Jan 21) to set up a 4x SATA HD RAID10 using the internal SATA0-3 ports.  I am afraid that I would lose the RAID10 if I first disable or uninstall the existing driver then try to run the update installer again.  Note also that I do not boot from the RAID.

Any ideas on how to get this update to "take"?

UPDATE: Softpaq SP154160 BUG LOCATED!

If you go into the files extracted by running SP254160 and drill down to the drivers source folder you will find that HP put the wrong version of the drivers there.  Instead of the rev 8.6.0.3001 drivers they placed the rev 8.6.0.2002 drivers this softpaq was supposed to replace.  Simple fix but since HP will not allow contact with a natural born human who could quickly fix this issue, I don't see us getting to the "recommended" 8.6.0.3001 drivers anytime soon.
