Microsoft Windows 11

I have been trying to connect my JBL tune buds to my HP laptop. However, when I go onto the popup to connect to a new device, the JBL headphones never come up as an option to connect. I have tried disconnecting from all other devices, charging the earbuds to full, installing software and connecting to all unknown devices, but nothing has worked. Does anyone know why this is happening? The JBL earbuds also are automatically on pairing mode once you take them out of the case and have no buttons at all to try and reset or restart pairing mode.

@Pearry, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're having trouble connecting your JBL Tune Buds to your HP OmniBook 5 Flip 14" 2-in-1 Laptop (14-fp0000) running Windows 11. Let's walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.

Preliminary Checks

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your laptop:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices and make sure Bluetooth is turned On.
  • You can also check this quickly by clicking the Bluetooth icon in the system tray.

Put JBL Tune Buds in pairing mode:

  • As you mentioned, they should automatically enter pairing mode when removed from the case. Ensure the buds are not already connected to another device (like a phone or tablet).

Troubleshooting Steps

Remove any previously paired devices

Sometimes, earbuds auto-connect to previously paired devices. Try:

  • Turning off Bluetooth on all other nearby devices.
  • Restarting the laptop to refresh Bluetooth services.

Update Bluetooth drivers

Outdated drivers can prevent new devices from being detected.

  • Visit the HP Support page for your model: Official HP® Support
  • Download and install the latest Bluetooth and Wireless drivers.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter to detect and fix issues automatically.

Manually add the device

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth.
  • Wait for the JBL Tune Buds to appear. If they don’t:
    • Try placing them back in the case and removing them again.
    • Move them closer to the laptop.

Optional: Clear Bluetooth Cache

Sometimes clearing paired devices helps:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Bluetooth, right-click each device under it, and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the necessary drivers.

Additional Tip

If the earbuds still don’t show up:

  • Try pairing them with another Windows device to confirm they’re discoverable.
  • If they work elsewhere, the issue is likely with the laptop’s Bluetooth stack.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
