Solved!

Keyboard Model ERK-321A Fn Key

HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

How do I disable/lock the Fn key on a HP ENVY p-011 All-In-One?

Yes I realized this is fairly specific, but I've been searching all day, I just want to use my F1 - F12 keys without having to hit Fn everytime.

Side note: This keyboard doesn't appear to have an option to turn it off by holding Fn and pressing Esc.

@Mister_K

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the Keyboard Model ERK-321A Fn Key feature needs to be tweaked and you want to use it without using the Fn key each time,

To let you know, the Fn key can be disabled but then the brightness, volume control, etc...would be non-functional once disabled as function keys without the Fn are just used for normal functions like its listed here.

If you still wish to disable the Fn key features, here's the step by step guide for you:

Click the Start button, then click Run .
2.In the Run window, next to Open , type MSCONFIG .
3.Press the ENTER key.
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.On the Startup tab, under Startup Item, ensure that the HKserv checkbox is unchecked.

NOTE: If HKserv is missing, reinstall the Hot-Key Utility application by clicking here

For windows 10 drivers: Click here & then follow the above steps.

(ignore the ads, 3rd party link has been sent to ensure your issue is fixed, I'm going beyond my way to help you and if you would like to give me virtual high five, Click on the purple thumbs up 🙂 )

Hello! I'm trying to change this configuration as well, but the links don't work anymore. I also want to disable the fn key and just keep f1-f12 as default.

Thanks for the help.
