@west11 -- where is the LPT1: port?

 

Such a socket was popular on "vintage" motherboards - more than 20 years ago.

Modern motherboards assume that your printer/scanner will have a USB interface, or will have WiFi capability, or an Ethernet port.

 

What is the manufacturer and model-number of your motherboard?
