Hi, im a computer technician and im working on a hp pavilion 27-n190st CT, it needed a new harddrive so i installed a new 2.5 inch ssd, installed windows 10 on it, but touchscreen doesn't work. I tried to use HP support assistant & windows update for it to hopefully find & install the HID-Touchscreen driver but it did not. It is not hidden in device manager either, and there is no drivers avaible on the 27-n190st page here.

Hoping a HP employee can get back to me regarding this and have a download link for the driver.

Hi @zyggy1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share the model name of your device?

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. After installing Windows 10, did you install all chipset and Intel drivers from support website for this model?
  2. Are you running Windows 10 64-bit? Sometimes touchscreen drivers are OS-version specific.
  3. Can you see any “Unknown devices” in Device Manager?
  4. Have you tried connecting the machine to the internet and letting Windows search for drivers automatically with Device Manager → Update Driver → Search online?
  5. Is the touchscreen physically recognized in BIOS (some models list the touchscreen as a device)?

Troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Verify BIOS settings

  • Restart and enter BIOS/UEFI → check if touchscreen or HID device is enabled. Some All-in-Ones allow you to enable/disable the touchscreen.

2. Install chipset & USB drivers first

  • Some HP touchscreen devices rely on Intel chipset drivers or USB controller drivers. Make sure all HP-recommended drivers for your 27-n190st are installed, even if the touchscreen driver itself isn’t listed.

3. Check for Windows optional updates

  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → View optional updates
  • Sometimes HID or firmware updates appear there that aren’t automatically applied.

4. Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager → Action → Scan for hardware changes
  • This can force Windows to detect the touchscreen if the proper controller drivers are present.

I hope this helps
