I just bought a HP Envy X360, and the bluetooth has worked ever since (bought it like a week or two ago), but last night my bluetooth icon was gone in my quick settings, and in my regular settings I don't have an option to turn bluetooth on. When my known devices try to pair, it says that it failed and make sure bluetooth is turned on. This happened before I updated anything, so I did the updates just to make sure that it wasn't that and there is still no bluetooth option. This is a big part of my schooling, and is needed on a regular basis. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi erin2000,

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are facing an issue with computer, I am glad to assist you today.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating issue where your Bluetooth functionality has suddenly disappeared from your HP Envy x360. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

**1. Check Bluetooth Settings and Visibility:

**A. Verify Bluetooth Settings:

  • Settings App: Go to Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices. Check if Bluetooth is listed here and if there is an option to turn it on.
  • Airplane Mode: Ensure Airplane mode is off as it might disable Bluetooth.

**B. Check for Bluetooth in Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager: Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Bluetooth Section: Look for Bluetooth devices listed. If you don’t see any Bluetooth adapters or devices, it could be a driver issue or a hardware issue.
  • Show Hidden Devices: Go to View → Show hidden devices and see if any Bluetooth devices appear.

**2. Update or Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers:

**A. Update Drivers:

  • Device Manager: In Device Manager, right-click on the Bluetooth device (if available) and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • HP Support: Go to the HP Support website and search for the latest Bluetooth drivers for your HP Envy x360 model. Download and install them.

**B. Reinstall Drivers:

  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Right-click on the Bluetooth device in Device Manager and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the Bluetooth drivers upon reboot.

**3. Check Windows Services:

**A. Ensure Bluetooth Services are Running:

  • Run Command: Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Bluetooth Services: Look for Bluetooth Support Service, Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service, or similar services. Ensure they are running and set to Automatic. Right-click and choose Restart if they are running but still not working.

**4. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

**A. Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled:

  • Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your laptop and press the BIOS/UEFI access key (often Esc, F2, F10, or Del) during startup.
  • Check Settings: Look for Bluetooth-related settings and ensure Bluetooth is enabled.

**5. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

**A. Use Built-in Troubleshooter:

  • Run Troubleshooter: Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters. Select Bluetooth and run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve issues.

**6. Check for Windows Updates:

**A. Install Updates:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update and install any pending updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve driver or system issues.

**7. Check Hardware Issues:

**A. Verify Hardware Functionality:

  • Check Device Functionality: If possible, test Bluetooth functionality with a USB Bluetooth adapter to determine if it’s a hardware issue.
  • HP Support: If Bluetooth is not listed in Device Manager and no drivers are available, it could indicate a hardware problem. Contact HP Support for further assistance.

**8. Restore System (if applicable):

**A. Use System Restore:

  • Restore Point: If the issue started recently and you have a restore point from before the issue began, use System Restore to revert your system to a previous state. Go to Settings → Update & Security → Recovery → Open System Restore.

**9. Contact HP Support:

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it’s best to contact HP Support directly. They can provide more specific guidance and check if there might be a hardware issue with the Bluetooth module.

Preventive Measures:

  • Keep Drivers Updated: Regularly check for and install updates for your drivers.
  • Backup Data: Regularly back up important data to prevent data loss from potential issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with your Bluetooth functionality on your HP Envy x360. If you provide additional details or error messages, further troubleshooting might be more targeted.
