ME State in Recovery Mode error help!

Hi @Doordematt

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you’re seeing the ME State in Recovery Mode error. This typically indicates that the Intel Management Engine firmware is not initializing as expected. Thank you for reaching out—if you’ve already tried any troubleshooting steps, it would be helpful to know so we don’t repeat them unnecessarily.

To guide you accurately, could you please share:

The exact HP product model (for example, HP Spectre x360 13‑ap0xxx).

Whether the system is able to boot into Windows or if it halts at startup.

Any recent changes such as BIOS updates, firmware updates, or hardware replacements.

In the meantime, here are some generic HP‑recommended checks you can consider:

Perform a hard reset by disconnecting power and battery (if removable), then reconnecting.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) to check system board and firmware health.

Verify if the BIOS can be accessed and note if the ME firmware version is displayed.

If accessible, use the HP App → Diagnose & Fix option to scan for firmware or driver issues.

Ensure the system BIOS is updated to the latest version available from HP’s support site.

Once you share the product details and current behavior, I can provide specific steps with the official support references. Would you like to confirm the model number and whether the system reaches Windows or stays at the error screen?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
