HP EliteDesk 800 G3 TWR
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone:

I have been trying to upgrade my Windows 10 Pro 64bit (version 21H2) to Win 11, but in vain. First I managed to update the TPM from 1.2 to 2.0. I thought that was all needed to start the upgrade. But when I run the Windows PC Health Check, all the requirements were met but one, that is "Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz."  I thought the processor was good enough for the upgrade, but not. Now, I have been looking for a secondhand i7-xxxx generation, but there are so many of them around-- I got confused. If anybody out there who could advise me on a SPECIFIC, MINIMUM processor in i7- generation that could be accepted in upgrading Win11, that would be very much appreciated. I also noticed that every processor has a name on the back, like the one I am using now says, "SR2L2" with additional letter "L619F812." I am not quite sure if this is relevant information in buying a secondhand processor, but I am worried about getting it but won't work on my particular machine. What I am saying, I don't know much about these things, so I need to know exactly what I am going to buy beside, for example, knowing just "Intel Core i7-8700." Or, what do I need to look for when buying a processor to replace the existing one for my machine HP EliteDesk 800 G3 TWR, in order to be able to satisfy the Win 11 upgrade requirement ?  Many thanks in advance to you all, for your expertise.

Hi:

Your PC's motherboard does not support any Intel 8th gen core processors, which are the oldest Intel generation processors supported for W11.

You need an Elitedesk 800 G4 with an 8th gen core processor in order to meet all of the W11 hardware requirements.

If you want to install W11 on your PC as is, there are several workarounds out there that provide ways to bypass the W11 hardware checks so you can upgrade to W11.

I found this method to be the easiest way to do that...

Unfortunately this system does not support windows 11 natively

6,7th  generation processors include Skylake and Kaby lake but only Skylake supports windows 11 such as i9-7900x

Thank you so much for the quick reply. It has saved me a lot of hassle. I used the existing MiniTool  ShadowMaker 3.6.1 on my desktop to clone the Win10 for a backup before taking any action, and then I started the upgrade installation with the "Windows 11 Upgrade Tool" of Dong Go (Ko-fi), which did the job seamlessly. The OS is now Windows 11 Pro.  Thank you.

All the best to you, and to BeemerBiker who kindly informed me, too, with added knowledge.
