HP Pavilion p7-1534 Desktop PC

TLDR; Do you know where to find a bios update for my MS-7778 motherboard running BIOS Version/Date AMI 8.15, 1/23/2013? The HP drivers download page says “We were unable to find drivers for your product.”

I have an old HP Pavilion p7-1534 Desktop PC. The motherboard is an MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine) running BIOS Version/Date AMI 8.15, 1/23/2013 with an AMD A8-5500 APU. I just installed a GTX 1660 TI. I had trouble getting it to work but enabling the PCI VGA Palette Snoopin settings from the uefi / bios worked. I was able to install the GPU and got video from the card and it was working great. After I turned off the computer when I returned to turn it on I got no image. I disconnected the GPU from the PCIe slot and power supply. I turned it back on from the old VGA connection and got video. I reinstalled the card and it still didn't work. I decided to return to the uefi / bios and saw that my settings had not changed but I decided to change the settings back to the default setting. After I saved and exited I turned off the computer reinstalled the GPU and it worked again. Any time I turn off the computer after that initial installation of the GPU it stops working. I keep having to reset uefi / bios to the default settings save and exit, and then re-enable to PCI VGA Palette Snoopin even though it said it was enabled this seems to fix the problem. Right now I'm just not turning it off because it's working but that's not a long-term solution for me. Chat GPT keeps telling me the set my GPU as the primary display device but my uefi / bios don't give me that option. I think I need to update the BIOS but when I search HPs website it tells me they are unable to find drivers for my product. MSI doesn't return any results either. The problem might be that my computer keeps reverting to the AMD graphics after a complete shutdown. I tried completely uninstalling the device and drivers from the computer but it keeps coming back. I disabled Windows updates from the device installation settings and the services window but that hasn't seemed to prevent the computer from switching back to the APU. Windows Home Edition doesn't allow me to use Group Policy Editor. Using the registry editor looks complicated and I'm not sure that would work. Before I try to have Chat GPT walk me through how to use the registry editor to prevent the APU graphics adapter from automatically reinstalling I thought I would try and update the BIOS first. If I can't find a BIOs update do you think the registry editor would work? I can post the steps Chat GPT is suggesting if anyone is interested. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. *bows

Hi:

It appears the HP recently retired support for your PC since it is more than 10 years old.

The only place I know of where you can find drivers for your PC would be from this reputable 3rd party vendor:

I posted the link from their site to the last BIOS update HP released for your PC, which was 8.20.

HP Pavilion p7-1534 BIOS (driverscollection.com)

Since your PC was never supported by HP for W10, bear in mind that the BIOS update was probably written to be run using Windows 8, so if you are running W10, I don't know what will happen if you run the update using an unsupported operating system.

It may work fine, or it may wreck your PC.
