I just purchased a HP desktop computer. It has the preinstalled Microsoft 365 and wants me to try free sample and then purchase. I do not want 365. I just want to purchase Microsoft Office (one time purchase and not subscription) Can or should I uninstall 365 before I install Office ?

Hi @Daisymae7,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your Microsoft Office. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Certainly, you can uninstall Microsoft 365 before installing a standalone version of Microsoft Office. However, it's important to note that Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office are essentially the same applications with different licensing models. Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based service that includes the latest version of Office applications, while Microsoft Office as a one-time purchase includes a specific version of the Office applications.
If your goal is to have a one-time purchase of Microsoft Office rather than a subscription, here are the general steps to uninstall Microsoft 365:
- Open Control Panel:
- In Windows 10, right-click on the Start button and select "Control Panel."
- Navigate to "Programs" > "Programs and Features."
- Locate Microsoft 365 (Office):
- Look for Microsoft 365 or Office in the list of installed programs.
- Select Microsoft 365 (Office):
- Click on it to select, and then choose "Uninstall" or "Change" at the top of the window.
- Follow the Uninstall Wizard:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Microsoft 365.
After uninstalling Microsoft 365, you can then proceed to install the standalone version of Microsoft Office. Be sure to have your Office product key ready for the installation.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
