Hi @Moshtech

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for the detailed information. I understand how inconvenient it is when your mouse suddenly stops working, especially after a system update.

Let’s go through steps to restore the missing mouse driver on your HP Stream laptop running Windows 10 Pro.

Step-by-Step to Restore Mouse/Touchpad Driver

1. Check Device Manager for Hidden or Disabled Drivers

Sometimes the driver is still present but hidden or disabled after an update.

Press Windows + X, then choose Device Manager.

Expand "Mice and other pointing devices".

If you see HID-compliant mouse or your touchpad listed, right-click it.

If it’s disabled, select Enable device.

If there’s a yellow warning icon, choose Update driver > Search automatically.

Also, click View > Show hidden devices in Device Manager.

2. Use Windows Troubleshooter

Let Windows detect and fix the issue automatically.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Select Additional troubleshooters.

Click Hardware and Devices, then Run the troubleshooter.

3. Install the Driver via Windows Update (Manually)

Even if HP doesn’t offer new drivers, Windows Update may have a compatible version.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Select Check for updates.

After updates install, restart your system and test the mouse.

4. Manually Install Generic HID-Compliant Mouse Driver

If your device doesn’t reinstall the driver on its own:

Open Device Manager.

Right-click the PC name at the top and choose Add legacy hardware.

Choose Install the hardware that I manually select.

Select Mice and other pointing devices > HID-compliant mouse > Next.

5. Touchpad Driver from HP Support Assistant

Even if the general driver section says "no updates available", try downloading or launching the HP Support Assistant, which can detect missing drivers more accurately.

Download from: https://support.hp.com/in-en/help/hp-support-assistant

Once installed:

Open the tool and check for any driver updates or system-specific components.

Restart after installation.

Let me know your Stream model number (e.g., HP Stream 11-y010nr), and I’ll find the exact link to a compatible driver if it exists.

I want to make sure you’re fully up and running again.
