Hi @Warner4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your mouse cursor!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Check Mouse Surface: Ensure that the surface you are using the mouse on is clean and flat. Optical mice work best on non-reflective surfaces like mouse pads.

  2. Update Drivers: Make sure your mouse drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager in Windows, finding your mouse under "Mice and other pointing devices," right-clicking, and selecting "Update driver."

  3. Clean the Mouse: If you're using a trackball mouse or one with a sensor, clean the parts carefully. Dust or dirt can affect its movement.

  4. USB Port: Try connecting the mouse to a different USB port on your computer to see if the issue persists.

  5. Check Battery and Connection: If your mouse is wireless, ensure that the batteries are fresh and that there are no obstructions between the mouse and its receiver.

  6. Mouse Settings: Check your system's mouse settings. You can access this through the Control Panel and adjust the sensitivity or speed settings.

  7. Malware Scan: Perform a scan for malware or viruses that could be affecting system performance. Use reliable antivirus software to check for any threats.

  8. Disable Enhanced Pointer Precision:

    • Go to Control Panel > Mouse.
    • Click on the "Pointer Options" tab.
    • Uncheck the "Enhance pointer precision" option and see if it resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

This kind of mouse behavior can be caused by a few things. Try checking if the mouse sensor or the surface you’re using it on is clean, and test with a different mouse to rule out hardware issues. Also update or reinstall your mouse/trackpad drivers from Device Manager. If it still happens, disable any third-party mouse software and check if the issue continues.
