HP Pavilion All-in-One - 23-q102a (Touch)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Although my 23-q102 All in One is 9 years old it hasn't had a great deal of use, however, it takes about 5 mins to start up. Have tried all the tests in the HP Support Assistant still the same problem, any suggestions please.

A slow startup can be frustrating, especially when you've already run HP Support Assistant tests. Since your HP Pavilion 23-q102a is an older model, let's focus on optimizing performance.

 

Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab and disable programs that don’t need to launch at boot.

Check for Disk Issues

  • Open Command Prompt as admin and run:
    chkdsk /f /r
  • This will scan and repair disk errors.

Optimize Windows Boot Settings

  • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
  • Under the Boot tab, enable No GUI Boot and set Timeout to 3 seconds.

Upgrade to an SSD (If Possible)

  • If your PC still runs on an HDD, upgrading to an SSD can dramatically improve boot times.

Run Windows Performance Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
  • Run the Performance Troubleshooter.

Check for Background Processes

  • In Task Manager, look for high CPU or disk usage.
  • Disable unnecessary services using services.msc.
