That's arguably the best phone out there 🙂
Android should back the photos automatically to Google Photos. Can you login to the web and see if those photos appear in your browser?
You may have selected an option for RAW format. FYI, that is the BEST format for photographers as you can fix/edit them in post.
Drawback is Windows cannot open RAW formats. I use darktable (much better than LightRoom and free!) to edit my photos.
For simpler applications, I always install IrfanView [content edited] on my clients' computers as that way they can open ANY photo format.
As a bonus, you can open Photoshop (.PSD), Autocad, and others, and then SAVE AS a more common format JPG, GIF, etc.
Install the plugins option as that will be able to read the latest RAW format for all the digital camera too.
The latest version, v4.66, just came out
Let me know if this helps.

You don't need plugins for Photoshop.
Photoshop is NOT the best program for beginners. It is a HUGE and complicated application and can take years to master.
How did you transfer the files to your desktop? What does Google Drive show? If you login to **bleep**, click the 9 dots (3x3 array) and select Photos, do you see you photos there? If not, your phone is not setup properly.
If somehow you managed to get the files to the desktop without Google Photos, what are the files extensions? JPG? RAW? BMP?
In all cases, you should install IrfanView.com and the plugins as that app will open any image file.

you mentioned wireless internet, what does that have to do with anything?
unless you made shortcuts on the desktop and point to the internet?
copy the files to a USB key, check the sizes of the files, they should be quite large (10M+), the try opening the files on any other PC/Mac. You may not have copied the files properly.
Also, check Google Photos on the web, check if the files are there first

Hi Rick Mti,
The files are on an external SSD and I can open the photos on my Dell laptop. I bought this HP all-in-one just before Christmas and have never been able to view my pictures. I have downloaded Adobe Lightroom so I could do some post-processing but would like if I could get a solution to the problem I am having with Windows 11 on this desktop.

If you can open them on another computer, then if appears that the files are ok and the problem is the new HP laptop.
I never use any factory configuration as there is always too much crapware (preinstall programs and demo that try to get you to buy something you don't need).
I always install IrfanView graphics viewer and I also install the optional plugins that allow one to open any image file (ie raw files from all the major camera companies)
It is a small program that allows one to open a Photoshop file (PSD) and then save it as JPG.
Don't use Lightroom. That is a BLOATED program that one has to pay each month to use. I much prefer DarkTable (dt)
check out www.darktable.org
Note: ANY image process program (aside from irfanview) can be very intimidating for a novice and all have a steep learning curve. dt has an amazing community and excellent on line tutorial videos.
dt is also available for the Mac, Linux and Windows. It will run on any hardware and is less than 1/10 the size of Lightroom and it totally free, PLUS, it have MORE features (parametric masking)
