OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm having issues trying to downgrade my bios version. I currently have version F.23 version but on HP drivers said I need the F.13 version. I'm far from being a expert when it comes to the spec side of computers but after hours of research, I am pretty sure I have the wrong bios version which is also causing severe poor performance and heating in my computer recently.

I am trying to flash my bios with a USB but there really isn't anything online or on youtube that guides me through the process on how flash it with a USB drive. Just need help on flashing my BIOS since I can't downgrade to older versions.

Help would be greatly appreciative. Thank you in advance

Hi @nikeyy

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your OMEN 30L Desktop PC. Downgrading your BIOS version can be tricky, and it's important to proceed carefully to avoid potential harm to your system.

Here are some steps you can follow:

Check Compatibility: Before proceeding, ensure that the F.13 BIOS version is indeed the recommended one for your specific model and configuration. This information should be available on the HP support website where you found the BIOS updates.

Create a Backup: Make sure to back up any important data before you attempt to update or downgrade your BIOS, as the process can potentially result in data loss or other system issues.

Download the Correct BIOS:

  • Visit the HP support website specific to your model.
  • Navigate to the drivers or BIOS section.
  • Locate the F.13 version and download it.

Prepare a USB Drive: You may need a USB flash drive to install the BIOS. Format it to FAT32 and ensure it's empty.

Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive:

  • Follow the instructions provided by HP to create a BIOS recovery drive. This often involves copying the downloaded BIOS file onto the USB drive.

Access BIOS Recovery:

  • Restart your computer and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press F2 to select System Diagnostics, then BIOS Management or Firmware Management, and follow the instructions to recover or flash an older BIOS version.

Proceed with Caution: If you're unsure or encounter any issues, it may be beneficial to contact HP Phone support or a professional technician for assistance.

Keep in mind that downgrading BIOS can sometimes introduce other issues, so it’s important to ensure this step is necessary for resolving your problem.

For detailed and model-specific instructions, always refer to the official documentation provided by HP.

I've followed everything step by step but when I reach the part where you say

  • Press F2 to select System Diagnostics, then BIOS Management or Firmware Management, and follow the instructions to recover or flash an older BIOS version.

There's no Bios Management or Firmware Management option. I've checked every option and nothing remotely close has came up to what you instructed. It also said that I need to update my diagnostic which I followed the website displayed on screen (www.hp.com/go/techcenter/PCDiags) Downloaded it the top option and it doesn't really get me anywhere.
