New HPSA downloaded, showed up I don't know when. All I got was an icon and it doesn't work. Can't sign in to HPSA. Went to installed programs and it was not there. Maybe old icon is opening new HPSA. Bottom line I now have a useless icon on my desk top.
What to do?

Hi @mpw101,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a mix-up between the old and new versions of HP Support Assistant (HPSA) on your HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01. Here's how to resolve the issue.
Steps to Resolve the HPSA Sign-In Issue:
Uninstall HP Support Assistant Completely:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter to open the Programs and Features window.
- Look for "HP Support Assistant" in the list. If you find it, select it and click on Uninstall.
- If you don't find it there, open the Start menu and search for "HP Support Assistant". Right-click on it and select Uninstall.
Delete Old Icons:
- Go to your desktop and delete any existing HP Support Assistant icons.
- Check the Start menu and Taskbar for any HP Support Assistant shortcuts and remove them.
Download the Latest Version:
- Visit the HP Support Assistant page to download the latest version of HP Support Assistant.
- Click on Download HP Support Assistant, and once the download is complete, run the installer.
Install the New Version:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version of HP Support Assistant.
- Once installed, you should see a new icon on your desktop or in the Start menu.
Sign In:
- Open the newly installed HP Support Assistant.
- Sign in with your HP account credentials. If you don't have an account, you can create one during the sign-in process.
Additional Tips:
Reboot Your System:
- After uninstalling the old version and before installing the new one, it's a good idea to reboot your computer to ensure all remnants of the old version are removed.
Run as Administrator:
- Sometimes, running the installer or the application as an administrator can resolve permission issues. Right-click on the installer or the HP Support Assistant icon and select Run as administrator.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
