My old all in one has the ability to wake from sleep by moving the mouse or tapping on the keyboard; but not the
24-cr0337c. There is no Power Management tab for the keyboard or mouse; and the BIOS doesn't have a Wake on USB or similar feature. Why is this missing? Is there some kind of workaround without having to reach to the power button on the computer? I've spent a fair amount of time searching for an answer, but there is none to be found.

@Jerrypele, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cr0337c lacks the typical Wake on USB settings, which is unusual for most modern PCs. Here’s why and what you can do about it:
Possible Reasons for Missing Wake on USB Option
- Firmware Limitation: Some HP AIO models have BIOS settings locked down, removing certain wake functions.
- Windows Power Management Restriction: If Windows doesn’t recognize your keyboard and mouse as power-manageable devices, the Power Management tab won’t appear.
- USB Port Power Behavior: Some USB ports may be fully powered down in sleep mode, preventing them from detecting input.
Workarounds to Enable Wake on USB
1. Check BIOS Settings Again
Even though you didn’t find Wake on USB, look for:
- USB Power in Sleep Mode
- Wake on LAN (some HP devices link Wake on USB to this)
- Deep Sleep Control (disabling this might help)
Try toggling these settings and test if USB wake-up works.
2. Enable Wake Timers in Windows
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click Change plan settings for your active plan.
- Select Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep > Allow wake timers, and Enable it.
3. Check HID Device Power Management
Even if the Power Management tab is missing:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click each device > Properties.
- Look under Details > Choose Power Data in the dropdown.
- If Power Capabilities shows 00000000, wake from sleep isn’t supported.
4. Use an Alternative Wake Method
- Wake on LAN (WoL): If you have a network adapter, you may be able to wake your PC remotely.
- Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse: Some models allow Bluetooth devices to wake up the PC even when USB doesn’t.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Sorry for the long delay in response. I thought I would get notified of a reply.
Thanks for your response. This system has a very limited number of BIOS options. There is no 'USB Power in Sleep Mode', nor Deep Sleep Control'. There is no Wake on LAN, but there is a Network Boot. This option does not offer a Wake on USB.
My Power Plan already has wake timers enabled. In Device Manager; both the keyboard and mouse (part of the all-in-one package) show they support Power Management capabilities in Properties.
Any other ideas? I'm at the latest firmware.

@Jerrypele, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you so much for posting your query! My colleague @Max3Aj is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.
Check USB Power Settings:
In Device Manager, go to Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click each USB Root Hub, and under Power Management, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Adjust Power Settings:
Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
Disable USB selective suspend and turn off Allow hybrid sleep.
Check the sleep settings and make sure your sleep times are set properly.
Try a Different USB Port:
Switch to a different USB port, preferably a USB 2.0 port, to see if that helps.
Update/Reinstall USB Drivers:
In Device Manager, right-click USB controllers and choose Update driver or uninstall and reboot to reinstall.
Power Cycle the PC:
Power off your system completely, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in to reset any power management issues.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
