My Num Lock key stopped functioning today for some unknown reason. I activate Num Lock, the keyboard lights up to show Num Lock is on, I hear a beep when I toggle to Num Lock, but I can't type any numbers with the keypad. I am running Windows 11 and when I go to update the drivers from the HP website it indicates the drivers are only compatible with Windows 10. Are there new drivers for this for HP Envy that are compatible with Windows 11? Any thoughts as to why I am seeing this issue all of a sudden?
I have tried 3 different keyboards all with updated keyboard drivers and I get the same result. I have also reinstalled Windows 11 and still have not fixed the issue.

@MPSD, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your num lock not working on HP Envy Desktop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
This seems to be more of a system-related issue rather than a hardware or driver-related problem, especially since you have tried multiple keyboards and even reinstalled Windows 11. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Mouse Keys Setting
- Windows has a feature called "Mouse Keys" that, when enabled, prevents the numeric keypad from working normally.
- Steps to disable it:
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility > Mouse.
- Ensure that "Mouse Keys" is turned off.
2. Check Ease of Access Keyboard Settings
- Steps:
- Open Settings (Win + I).
- Go to Ease of Access > Keyboard (or Accessibility > Keyboard in Windows 11).
- Turn off Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys, and Filter Keys if any of them are enabled.
3. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter
- Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can detect and fix keyboard-related issues.
- Steps:
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Scroll down and run the Keyboard Troubleshooter.
4. Test in Safe Mode
- Booting into Safe Mode can help determine if a third-party program is interfering with your keyboard.
- Steps to boot into Safe Mode:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab, check Safe boot, and select Minimal.
- Click Apply > OK and restart your computer.
- Test the Num Lock key in Safe Mode.
- To exit Safe Mode, repeat the steps but uncheck Safe boot.
5. Update Keyboard Drivers Manually
Even though HP lists drivers for Windows 10, they should still work with Windows 11. However, you can try updating manually:
- Steps:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click on your keyboard and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- If that doesn't work, select Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list.
- Select HID Keyboard Device and install it.
Let me know if it helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
