OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-wd0013dx (7H1Z1UA)

Hello hp community thank you for your time,

Currently when I try to open any game (Valheim ,Ready or not) just for some examples it will try to load then immediately crash usually after giving me a notification that it's not responding

I have updated drivers, and I have reinstalled windows.

I have disabled the intel driver to force use of the nvidia driver but it's the same.

Hi @Mr91735,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with crashes while trying to enjoy games on your Omen 16 laptop. It’s disappointing when you’re all set to dive into a game and your system doesn’t cooperate. Let’s see if we can troubleshoot the issue together.

A few questions to help diagnose the issue:

  1. Have you noticed if the crashes happen consistently with all games or just specific titles?
  2. Are there any error messages or codes displayed when the games crash, or does the system simply freeze and close the application?
  3. Is your laptop getting unusually hot during gameplay, which could indicate overheating?

Check for Overheating:

  • Monitor the temperatures of your CPU and GPU while gaming using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner. If temperatures are too high (generally above 85°C), you might need to clean the fans or consider using a cooling pad.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set the power plan to High performance. This setting can help ensure that your laptop is utilizing its full capabilities while gaming.

Verify Game Files:

  • If you're using platforms like Steam or Epic Games, use the feature to verify the integrity of game files. Corrupted game files can cause crashes, and this option will fix any issues it finds.

Check Event Viewer:

  • After a crash, open Event Viewer (search for it in the Start menu) and check the Windows Logs > Application section for any errors related to the games or system crashes. This can provide clues as to what might be causing the issue.

Disable Background Applications:

  • Close any unnecessary applications running in the background while you game, especially resource-heavy programs or overlays (like Discord or GeForce Experience). These can sometimes conflict with games and lead to crashes.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, we may need to look deeper into hardware diagnostics,

Keep me posted for further assistance
