Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I recently went into the Omen bios and didn't change anything. But after I launched back to windows my performance decreased by a lot. Is it maybe because my pc didn't have default settings in the bios? Please help.

Hi @max_ti,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand It's unlikely that simply entering the BIOS and not making any changes would directly cause a significant decrease in performance upon returning to Windows. However, it's possible that something else might have happened coincidentally.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if any processes or applications are consuming a lot of CPU, memory, or disk usage. Sometimes background processes or malware can cause performance issues.
  • Restart Your PC: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve performance issues by clearing out temporary files and resetting system processes.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Make sure that your Windows 11 installation is up to date. Sometimes performance improvements or bug fixes are included in updates.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers, especially graphics card and chipset drivers, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance problems. Software and Drivers for OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-1074 Bundle PC
  • Check Power Settings: Make sure your power settings are set to High Performance in Windows. This ensures that your system is using maximum performance settings.
  • Check for Background Processes: Make sure that there are no unnecessary programs running in the background that could be consuming system resources. You can use the Task Manager to close any unnecessary background processes.
  • Check BIOS Settings Again: While it's unlikely that simply entering the BIOS caused the performance decrease, it's worth double-checking your BIOS settings to ensure everything looks normal. Make sure that any performance-related settings are set to default or optimized settings.
  • Perform a System Restore: If you're still experiencing issues, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system back to a previous state before you entered the BIOS.

Thanks for giving me so many hints but unfortunately I already tried all of these. I checked my cpu, disk and memory usage. The only thing thai I saw was while running no games, it used 5gb of ram and I dont know if that is a lot or not which is why I came back to ask you.
