OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000a (3G5Z0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

It's been running about 2 hours, the black omen rectangle with the name upper left, scrolling text like "Rolling D20" and "flaunting new mount". I have another app telling me my nvidia update was 8 months out of date, so I thought I'd check omen

Hi @DaleM169

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Let’s try to address both of these things step by step.

1. OMEN Command Center (Scrolling Text Issue)

A. Close and Reopen OMEN Command Center

Try force-quitting the OMEN Command Center and restarting it:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Look for OMEN Command Center in the list of running applications or processes.
  3. If it’s there, right-click it and select End Task to force it to close.
  4. After closing, try reopening the OMEN Command Center from your Start menu or taskbar.

B. Restart Your PC

C. Reinstall OMEN Command Center

If restarting doesn’t help and the app keeps showing that scrolling text or isn’t responding:

  1. Uninstall OMEN Command Center:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Find OMEN Command Center in the list and click Uninstall.
  2. Reinstall it:

2. NVIDIA Driver Update

A. Use GeForce Experience to Update NVIDIA Drivers

If you have GeForce Experience installed, you can easily check and update your NVIDIA drivers from there.

  1. Open GeForce Experience (you can search for it in the Start Menu).
  2. Log in if you haven’t already (it’s a free app from NVIDIA).
  3. Click on the Drivers tab at the top.
  4. If there’s an update available, you should see a notification or a button that says Download.
  5. Click Download to get the latest driver and follow the on-screen prompts to install it.

B. Manually Update NVIDIA Drivers

If you don’t have GeForce Experience or prefer doing it manually:

  1. Go to the NVIDIA Driver Download page.
  2. Select your GPU model (you can find it in Device Manager under Display Adapters if you’re unsure).
  3. Download the latest driver package for your system.
  4. Run the installer and follow the instructions to update your drivers.

C. Update Windows 11

If your system is behind on Windows updates, this can also cause issues with drivers. Be sure to check for Windows updates as well:

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any updates that are available.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

-Regards
