PC All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I would like to buy an all-in-one pc with a 1Tb SSD.

After configuring my PC on the C: drive, I would like to have a 😧 drive as well.

After configuring my pc, is it possible to reduce the size of the C: drive from 1Tb to 512 Gb in order to create a 512 Gb 😧 drive?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, it is simple to re partition any hard drive.  Windows disk manager can do it.

I prefer to use 3rd party tools (which are great to have anyway) like GPARTED (free and open source) and Partition Assistant (AOMEI)

I always partition as

c - windows and apps

d - user data

e - utilities and file that don't have to be backed up, but help to reinstall thing when (no IF) things go bad

Thanks a lot for your answer.
and i don’t loose all the configuration system i did before i re partition?

You shouldn't lose any data.  All the technique I mentioned are NON DESTRUCTIVE.

However, one should ALWAYS backup their drive (or at least copy over their key folders: documents, pictures, music, videos, desktop, downloads) to a USB key.

Worst case scenario, you have a power failure during the process and you don't have a UPS (for desktops) or your laptop battery isn't charged or doesn't last, then you could be SOL.
