How did this happen?

  • Power surge?
  • Add memory or install new device?
  • BIOS update that went wrong?
  • Windows update that failed?

Do the hard reset even if there are not blinking lights or beeps

Try reseating the memory sticks:

You need to remove all the memory chips and clean the motherboard as best you can with an air duster. You should take some caution to avoid static discharge when removing the memory sticks.

On a desktop system, unplug computer. If the power cord has a transformer (wall wart) unplug from the computer. Press the power button 2-3 times to discharge residual electricity

Put back in and try the hard reset again
