I'm posting this for a friend. They have a fairly high end HP Omen PC that comes with a lot of HP bloatware that is no longer necessary. The problem is that this software is NOT able to be permanently removed.

Even through a fresh operating system install.

Things we've tried:

disabling and removing from services.msc as well as force uninstalling "pnputil /delete-driver oemplaceholder.inf /uninstall /force" (all hp .oem s)

Fresh OS install (still come back)

Disable driver updates and manually uninstall/remove (still somehow updates eventually? don't get how)

From various reddit searches it appears these HP software programs are basically tricking the OS into thinking they're hardware drivers. and thus reinstalling them. I want them gone (without having to replace the entire MOBO) because they're causing performance issues during gaming (And also serve no purpose).

yes i've seen https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/HP-Analytics-Services-Services-...

but this is not a real solution really, to just make sure they stop if they get started. there's no reason this software should be able to force-install without consent after removal.

Greetings @s7efen

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Unwanted HP stuff is being installed after doing a clean Windows installation using Windows USB installation media at this Site.

I also don't get this behavior. In the past, I have often done clean Windows installations to remove the HP factory OS image with success.

It seems like you may have disabled optional driver and firmware downloads, which is good, from Windows Update. But I'm not sure.

If not, You can stop HP updates offered by Windows Update as follows:

Enter Advanced System Settings in Search. Select the appropriate search result.

Select the Hardware tab within the System Properties dialog box.

Select Device Installation Settings. Select No.

Save changes. Select Apply then OK.

The PC, using a clean Windows installation, should not be installing optional HP stuff that ships in the factory image.

I don't have a HP PC at this time. Bit I've never had a problem running a clean Windows image on a HP PC in the past.

Regards
