Hi @Momma5568,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing difficulty connecting your HP 2755e printer to your Chromebook using Wi-Fi Direct and it's indicating that it's out of range, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Check Wi-Fi Direct Settings on the Printer:

    • Make sure that Wi-Fi Direct is enabled on your HP 2755e printer. You may need to access the printer's settings menu to verify this.
  2. Ensure Both Devices Are in Range:

    • Ensure that both the Chromebook and the printer are within the effective range for Wi-Fi Direct communication. Generally, Wi-Fi Direct has a limited range, and obstacles like walls can reduce signal strength.
  3. Update Firmware:

    • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP 2755e printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
  4. Restart Devices:

    • Try restarting both the printer and your Chromebook. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  5. Reset Wi-Fi Direct Settings:

    • On the printer, you may find an option to reset Wi-Fi Direct settings. You can try resetting these settings and then attempt to connect again.
  6. Check Wi-Fi Direct Password:

    • If Wi-Fi Direct on your printer requires a password, ensure that you are entering the correct password on your Chromebook. Some printers have a default password that can be found in the printer's documentation.
  7. Use HP Smart App:

    • Consider using the HP Smart app, which is available on the Chromebook. This app can help you set up and manage your printer. Follow the instructions within the app to connect the printer.
  8. Review Printer Documentation:

    • Check the user manual or documentation that came with your HP 2755e printer. It may contain specific instructions or troubleshooting tips for connecting via Wi-Fi Direct.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
