Hi.  Not sure I picked the best board for these questions.  I've asked several other websites, but can't seem to get anybody to answer, so maybe someone here is willing to help me.  I'm not a computer tech/geek, but I'm not completely clueless either.

1.  My computer does not support blu-ray DVDs.

2.  I want to use a software program to burn my blu-ray DVDs to my computer so I can put them on a flash drive or SD card

      to watch on my tablet.

3.  Do I need an external blu-ray player first before the software will work?

4.  Does the external blu-ray player have to be a blu-ray writer/reader or can it just be a plain blu-ray DVD player?

5.  Can you recommend a software program that does this?

Thank you so much for your help.  Have a great day.

3. Yes that will help and be easiest.

4. Yes it needs to be a reader/writter to copy files to and from.

5. There are may softwares that will work. It would do you best to read up on some reviews of them first and you make the call.

1) If the PC does not have a Blu-Ray player installed, then using an external drive will be needed or use a different PC that does have a Blu-Ray drive.

2) The next problem will be copying the Blu-Ray disk.  If the intended disk is a normal rent/buy movie, then it will have copy protection on it, which will prevent the activity you wish to do.  You will not be burning it to a flash drive or SD card, just copying

3) covered in 1)

4) they used to make a DVD/Blu-Ray reader years ago but that might not be the case anymore.  Since the drives are so reasonable these days, but a writer will work also.

5) If you plan on using the resulting files on a tablet, it might be advisable to also make it more compatible with the tablet, so converting the content will require something along the lines of DVDFab. ( that software will also solve the copy protection issue mentioned earlier)
