Hello

Omen 45L GT22 gaming pc

Windows 11

I have 2 RGB Ram sticks installed (the ones that came with the PC).  There was an update to the Omen gaming hub and lighting software today and now the 2 ram sticks no longer show the color blue at all.  If I select like a medium blue, it shows a greenish tone, if I choose a purple it shows a red.  So it's essentially not showing any tone of blue and subtracts that from whatever color I chose.  This was NOT an issue last night when I turned off my PC.  Everything was fine.  It started today when it appears an update installed. I did try to restart the pc - did not resolve it. I did send a feedback report but also wanted to report it here.  Any suggestions on how to fix this or is anyone else having this issue?

So as an update to this, I have tried all of the following:

-installing any Windows and Optional updates

-installing any updates through HP Support Assistant

-uninstalling and reinstalling Omen Gaming Hub & Omen Light Studio

-installing Kingston CTRL app to change Ram RGB

-installing SignalRBG to change ram RBG

-multiple PC restarts

Nothing worked.  The color blue or any color with blue in it does not show even remotely correctly on either ram stick.

So if anyone has any thoughts please let me know.

@lymefrogz, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You're clearly thorough, which helps a lot in troubleshooting. Based on what you've described, it strongly suggests either a software-level control conflict or a firmware/driver-level issue introduced by the recent OMEN Gaming Hub or OMEN Light Studio update.

Here’s what could be going on and what you can try next:

Check for a stuck RGB channel (hardware vs software test)

The fact that both RAM sticks are failing to display blue suggests one of two things:

  • A bug in the OMEN Light Studio update.
  • A hardware-level problem with the RGB controller (unlikely to happen to both sticks at once unless triggered by software/firmware).

Test this:
Shut down the PC, boot into BIOS, and see if the RAM sticks emit any RGB lighting.

  • If they do, check if they show blue as part of any rainbow/preset BIOS effects.
  • If blue is still missing even in BIOS, the issue may now be at the firmware/hardware level.

Check if the new OMEN update corrupted RAM RGB control

The OMEN Light Studio software update may have overwritten or corrupted the control method for the RAM's RGB controller.

Try the following:

Manually Reset RGB Firmware (if possible):

  1. Install Kingston FURY CTRL (if not already).
  2. Try setting the RAM lighting to static blue.
  3. If it still doesn't display correctly:
  • Try resetting profiles in Kingston CTRL.
  • Uninstall both OMEN Light Studio and Kingston CTRL.
  • Power off PC, unplug power cable, and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds (this clears static).
  • Then boot and reinstall only Kingston CTRL, not OMEN software.

Use a Third-Party Tool with Direct SMBus Control

If OMEN Light Studio took over RGB control from a lower-level interface (like SMBus), try:

OpenRGB (https://openrgb.org/) – This tool bypasses brand software and communicates directly with RGB hardware.

  • Run it as Administrator.
  • Go to the RAM modules.
  • Set each channel to static blue to test.

If OpenRGB also cannot display blue, it confirms that the controller itself (or its firmware) is no longer processing the blue channel correctly.

Roll Back OMEN Light Studio or Block It

If everything worked before the update:

  • Try using System Restore if a restore point exists prior to the update.
  • Or uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and Light Studio, then:

Block updates using Group Policy Editor or via firewall (to prevent auto-update from reinstalling broken version).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
