OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-0000i (393C5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there,

I have been having issues with my RTX 3080 Ti in my OMEN 45L for the past couple of months now. How it started was the fans would go really loud and then the pc would crash to a black screen (e.g. in Phasmaphobia just after loading into the map, the fans would go into overdrive and the PC crashes after a few seconds). This would also happen at various points during the UserBenchmark test.

The couple of steps I have taken are to ddu drivers and re-install the latest ones from Nvidia, as well as opening the case and cleaning it with compressed air (wasn't too dusty). My PC is now able to make it through the User Benchmark test but is only performing at the 0th percentile (67-76% compared to 252% or so), which I have tried three times to the same result. Temps seemed fine from NZXT, not going above 75C.

Any ideas on what could cause such poor performance in a GPU? It seems to be installed correctly (my OMEN 45L is about 6 months old). Could it be caused by dust collected in the GPU itself? I think opening it up and cleaning it will be my next step if it could be a significant cause. Many thanks!

Hello @LiamD13

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

! Attention !

With constant overheating, the thermal paste for CPU, GPU and bridges

dries out and loses its function and must therefore be renewed !

If you do not change this condition, computer/mainboard/components will suffer partial or total damage.

In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- Thermal paste for CPU, GPU graphics card and bridges must be renewed

High quality thermal paste should be used !

- The function of the fan(s) must be checked

- Short circuit test ( if required )

- PSU power supply unit test

- Components test

- General cleaning ...

If you can't do that, you should have it <serviced> by a professional computer (chip level) repair store.

Good luck
