About to unplug old 2016 HP computer and I'm saving files to external thumb drive. Can I re-use excel/word from the old one? New one will be HP# 24 CB 1124. Just trying to get ahead of transfer challenges. (No 12 year old grandkids to help)

Hi:
If you installed Microsoft Office via download or a DVD, and have the product key, you can install it on a new PC, but it will require activation.
If Microsoft Office came installed on your PC from the factory, you will not be able to use it on your new PC.
Here is the guidance from Microsoft for how to reinstall Office:
Download and install or reinstall Office 2019, Office 2016, or Office 2013 - Microsoft Support
