Hi @Anamikay,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for sharing the issue. It sounds like your HP PC is locked out due to repeated failed sign-in attempts or shutdowns, and even correct credentials aren’t working. Let’s walk through the recovery steps to regain access:
Step-by-Step Recovery Options
1. Try Signing in with a Microsoft Account
If you're using a Microsoft account:
- Go to Change your Microsoft account password - Microsoft Support.
- Reset your password from another device.
- Once reset, try signing in again on your HP PC.
HP recommends using a Microsoft-connected account for easier recovery. For more help, use the link: HP PCs - Managing user accounts and logins in Windows 11 and Windows 10 | HP® Support
2. Use Safe Mode to Access Sign-In Options
Sometimes, corrupted sign-in settings can be bypassed via Safe Mode:
- Power off your PC completely.
- Turn it on and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly before Windows loads.
- Choose Safe Mode with Networking.
- Try signing in again or create a new user account.
3. Use a Password Reset Disk (if created earlier)
If you had created a password reset disk:
- Insert it and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.
- If not, HP strongly recommends creating one after recovery to avoid future lockouts
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
