Error Message The device reported the following status: The previous self test completed having read the element of the test fail- 22/04/2012, 10:26:30 AM

Error Message The first failing LBA value is 16512590 and the failure occurred after the device had been operating power on hours. 22/04/2012, 10:26:30 AM

 

Computer is aproximately 2 years old.

Time to replace the hard drive. You can use a retail SATA hdd to replace the 500GB hdd you have. Hope you have burned your Recovery Disk set?

Hi,

 

SMART short test is for hard drives. If you are still able to boot to windows then i would recommend to backup all important data asap. Smart test indicates that there are some issues with the hard drive and it may fail in the future. System may still continue work for many more months without any problems but make sure you backup your data regularly.

Replaced damaged hard drive in February 2016 with 1 tb seagate and reloaded Windows 7 Home Premium. Had problems with computer not hardware in June. 

Went for Windows 10 free updgrade; 

Had a Microsoft download Windows 10 via remote view which took about 5 hours. Stated I had some software bugs or corrupted software with Windows 7 which was preventing updates and other problems. Download of Windows 10 solved problem. Download of NVIDIA Version 309.08 GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (download stated for Windows 7, 8, vista) after Windows 10 free upgrade solved games and desktop resolution problems.
