Hi @Cavro,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're trying to free up storage space on your HP 14 laptop to download a game. Here are some suggestions to help you maximize available storage.
Uninstall Unnecessary Programs:
- Go to "Control Panel" (or "Settings" in Windows 10).
- Click on "Programs" and then "Programs and Features."
- Uninstall any programs or applications that you don't need.
Delete Temporary Files:
- Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to delete temporary files.
- Press the Windows key and type "Disk Cleanup."
- Select the drive you want to clean and follow the prompts.
Clear Browser Cache:
- If you use web browsers, clearing the cache can free up some space.
- In most browsers, you can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to access the clearing options.
Move Files to External Storage:
- If you have large files like movies, music, or documents, consider moving them to an external hard drive or cloud storage.
Check for Large Files and Folders:
- Use the File Explorer to identify large files or folders that you may not need.
- Move large files to external storage or delete them if they are not essential.
Disable Hibernation:
- If you don't use hibernation, you can disable it to free up space.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type: powercfg -h off
Check for System Restore Points:
- System Restore Points can take up a significant amount of space. Adjust the allocated space or delete older restore points.
- Search for "Create a restore point" and then click on the "Configure" button.
Empty the Recycle Bin:
- Make sure to empty the Recycle Bin to permanently delete files.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Sometimes, Windows updates can accumulate and take up space. Make sure your system is up-to-date.
Upgrade Storage:
- If you've tried all the above steps and still need more space, consider upgrading your laptop's storage or adding an external drive.
Remember to be cautious and only delete files or uninstall programs that you are sure you don't need. If you are uncertain about a file or program,
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
