Hi @RANI_Y1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with slow boot.

A slow startup on your HP Laptop - 15-dw2025cl can be frustrating. There are several potential causes for long boot times, including software conflicts, startup programs, and hardware issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check for Startup Programs:

  • Task Manager: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then go to the Startup tab.
  • Disable Unnecessary Programs: Disable programs that are not essential to startup by right-clicking on them and selecting Disable. Be cautious and make sure not to disable critical system processes.

2. Perform a Clean Boot:

  • System Configuration: Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter. Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
  • Startup Tab: Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
  • Restart: Restart your laptop and see if the startup time improves. If it does, you can enable services and startup items one by one to identify the cause.

3. Check for Malware:

  • Run a Full Scan: Use Windows Defender or a reputable third-party antivirus program to perform a full system scan to ensure there are no malware or viruses affecting startup times.

4. Update Drivers and Windows:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Install any available updates.
  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager and check for driver updates for critical components, such as storage controllers and graphics drivers.

5. Check Disk Health:

  • Check Disk Utility: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run chkdsk /f /r to check for disk errors and fix them. You might need to restart your laptop to complete the check.

6. Optimize and Defragment Drive:

  • Optimize Drives: Go to Start > type "Defragment and Optimize Drives", select your system drive, and click Optimize. This helps improve performance by optimizing the file system.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @RANI_Y1 ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

7. Check for Fast Startup Settings:

  • Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Change Settings: Click Change settings that are currently unavailable and ensure Turn on fast startup is checked. This setting helps speed up boot times.

8. Test with a Clean Boot:

  • Boot into Safe Mode: Restart your laptop and enter Safe Mode by holding Shift while selecting Restart from the Power menu.
  • Check Performance: See if the startup time improves in Safe Mode. If it does, the issue may be related to third-party software or drivers.

9. Perform a System File Check:

  • Run SFC Scan: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow to check and repair corrupted system files.

10. Check System Performance:

  • Performance Monitor: Type Performance Monitor in the search bar and open it. Use it to analyze performance and identify any bottlenecks or issues.

11. Consider Hardware Upgrades:

  • Upgrade to SSD: If your laptop is using an HDD, upgrading to an SSD can significantly improve startup times and overall performance.
  • Check RAM: Ensure that your laptop has sufficient RAM. Upgrading RAM can also improve performance if you have limited memory.

12. System Restore or Reset:

  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert to a previous state where the laptop was functioning correctly.
  • Reset: As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset. Be sure to back up your data before doing this.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the slow startup and take appropriate action to improve boot times. If the problem persists after trying these solutions, it may be helpful to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
