Microsoft Windows 11

The HP Product Identity App could not detect my product and the serial number is not recognized. I have an HP Pavilion 23-q109 All-In-One computer and recently installed Windows 11. I have an exclamation mark on SystemFirmware and PCI Device and SM Bus Controller in Device Manager. I have tried to update driver and the outcome is that "the best driver is already installed". I have tried to update Windows 11 and search the HP Website for Updates for my computer. HP Website states there are no updates available. Can you help?

Hi @canada52,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

You mentioned that after installing Windows 11 on your HP Pavilion 23-q109 All-in-One, the HP Product Identity App cannot detect your product, the serial number is not recognized, and you are seeing exclamation marks on System Firmware, PCI Device, and SM Bus Controller in Device Manager. Updating drivers shows “best driver already installed,” and HP’s website shows no updates available.

Check Windows 11 Compatibility

The HP Pavilion 23-q109 is an older model and may not have official Windows 11 drivers on the HP website.

In such cases, some hardware (firmware, chipset, PCI devices) may not function correctly.

Run Windows Update (Optional Drivers)

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.

Install any available driver or firmware updates listed there.

Install Latest Intel Chipset & MEI Drivers (Windows 10 versions)

Download and install the Windows 10 chipset drivers from the HP Support page for your model.

Even if they are for Windows 10, they often resolve missing devices in Windows 11.

Manually Update Drivers in Device Manager

Right-click the device with an exclamation mark → Update Driver → Browse my computer → point it to the folder where the Windows 10 drivers were extracted.

BIOS/Firmware Update

Check HP Support site for any BIOS update for your model and install it.

This can fix the “SystemFirmware Code 10” error.

If Issues Persist

Since your model is not fully supported on Windows 11, consider rolling back to Windows 10, which has full driver support from HP.

This will ensure stable operation and proper device recognition.

I hope this helps.
