How do I load transfer paper into my printer so I can iron it on tee shirts

Hi @BJRaynor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Loading transfer paper into your HP printer is similar to loading regular paper, but there are a few important steps to ensure the design prints correctly and transfers well onto your T-shirt.

Official Guidelines for Transfer Paper

1. Check Printer Compatibility

  • Most HP inkjet printers (like DeskJet, ENVY, and OfficeJet) work with transfer paper.
  • Laser printers require laser-compatible transfer paper; never use inkjet paper in a laser printer.

2. Prepare the Transfer Paper

  • Identify the printable side (usually lighter or marked as “print this side”).
  • Keep the paper flat and avoid bending.

3. Load Transfer Paper

  • Open the input tray.
  • Place one sheet at a time to avoid jams.
  • Printable side should face down if your printer feeds from the bottom (most HP inkjets).
  • Adjust the paper guides snugly.

4. Printer Settings

  • In your print dialog:
    • Select Plain Paper or Photo Paper (depending on transfer paper instructions).
    • Set Best Quality.
    • Disable duplex printing.
  • For iron-on transfers, mirror the image before printing (usually in the app or print settings).

5. Print and Transfer

  • Print your design.
  • Let the ink dry completely.
  • Follow the transfer paper instructions for ironing (temperature, pressure, and time).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
