I tried to calculate this integral and it is calculatable in other softwares but it seems like there's something going wrong when I'm using the HP Prime Calculator.
Is there any ideas and solutions of this problem? Thanks!

Hi @H_mathematician
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering an issue while trying to calculate an integral on your HP Prime Calculator. While HP Prime is a powerful graphing calculator, there can occasionally be issues or specific steps that might be causing the calculation to not work as expected.
Here are a few things to check and try:
1. Check the Syntax of the Integral
Make sure that the integral is entered correctly in the HP Prime's syntax. For example, the general syntax for an integral is: ∫(expression, variable)For instance, to calculate the integral of x^2 with respect to x, you would enter:
Double-check the expression you're integrating and the variable you're using.

∫(x^2, x)
Check for Limits of Integration
- If you are calculating a definite integral (i.e., with limits), ensure that both the upper and lower limits are specified correctly. For example:This would calculate the definite integral of x^2 from 0 to 1.
3. Numerical vs. Symbolic Calculation
HP Prime can perform symbolic and numerical integrations. If you're encountering a problem with symbolic integration, you can try switching to a numerical approach:
- For numerical integration, you can use the numeric() function or switch to an evaluation mode that approximates the result, such as:
If the symbolic integral fails to evaluate, switching to numeric evaluation might be a temporary workaround.
4. Check for Error Messages
- If the calculator displays an error message, it might provide a clue as to what's going wrong. For instance, it could be due to:
- A missing parenthesis.
- An unsupported function.
- An issue with the limits of integration.
Be sure to carefully read any error message provided.

∫(x^2, x, 0, 1) → evalf( ∫(x^2, x, 0, 1) )

∫(x^2, x, 0, 1)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
