I have 130 new HP Pro T550 thin clients that I need to deploy. I've created a "Golden Image" on one device that works correctly. However, when I push this image to other units, the deployment process stops before it is finished. The thin client stops at a Windows login screen. It doesn't automatically log in to the "tempaccount" to finish the setup. This requires me to physically go to each machine and manually enter a password to complete the installation. I want to be able to push the images without manual intervention.

I'm creating and pushing the images using HP Device Manager 5.0.16.

The HP Pro T550 thin clients are running Windows 11 IoT. The HPDM agent version on the thin clients is 5.0.3669.41997.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After further troubleshooting, I found the cause of the issue and a workaround. I'm posting it in the hopes that it helps someone else in the future.

We use a program called Imprivata for access management. Basically, it allows us to log into our computers by tapping our employee badges to a USB card reader.

The Cause

The issue was caused by Imprivata (Enterprise Access Management software) being pre-installed on my "Golden Image."

  • With Imprivata installed: The deployment fails 70% of the time.
  • Without Imprivata installed: The deployment works 100% of the time.

The Solution

I have changed my deployment process. I created a Sequence Template in HP Device Manager to:

  1. Push the Windows 11 IoT image without Imprivata.
  2. Run a script to install Imprivata automatically after the image is deployed.

This has resolved the issue for me and I can now deploy images to thin clients without manual intervention.
